"Alice Johnson" with a heavy Indian accent calls with alarming news - our Microsoft computer has been sending Microsoft Headquarters information that our computer has been affected by a very dangerous virus - that we will have to be on our computer and she will guide us through the steps needed to fix the problem - only at "microsoft" do they have the secret numbers needed to fix the problem. We told her we would call in our IT guy and she got a little excited - "no no no a local technician cannot fix the problem", only she can fix it by talking us through by phone. We asked for her # and told her that we would have our IT guy call her and she gave us a shortened version of the number when we pressed for the correct #, she then gave us 1 more digit. We asked where it was we would be calling and she said Microsoft headquarters in Florida, but our caller ID said the call was from Seattle, WA the number was 206 - 456 - 0662 we asked why the number was Seattle incoming but her # was in Florida - the answer was she was calling via the internet.
